JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for operating equipment and performing manual labor in support of all City departments as needed. Review the Job Description.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for 1-2 years.



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED

Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance methods and practices.

Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations.
Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, and electrical procedures.
Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals.
Skill in operating a tractor, lawn mower(s) and other various hand tools.
Skill in oral and written communication.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is performed while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, or crouching. The employee must lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and be able to distinguish between shades of color. The work is performed indoors and outdoors, where the employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, machinery with moving parts, and occasional inclement weather. The work requires the use of personal protective equipment.
