Click here for full job announcement.JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for operating and driving heavy equipment and performing manual labor associated with department projects.MAJOR DUTIESOperates a variety of equipment or vehicles with involving routine operations which may include a utility cart, truck with trailer, dump truck or bucket truck.Hauls, transports, loads and unloads various equipment and materials.Performs tasks associated with grounds maintenance, roadside maintenance, or landscaping projects.Performs general and preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition.Performs various tasks associated with road maintenance and construction projects.Performs tasks associated with maintenance of park grounds, athletic fields, and recreational areas and other City property.Performs other related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAbility to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for 1-2 years.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Tennessee for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.This position requires a CDL; proficiency with 4 or more pieces of heavy equipment.TO APPLYInterested and qualified candidates must submit a completed Job Application, Resume, and Cover Letter highlighting your career experience as it relates to this position.
