PAY INFORMATION Base Annual Salary Range: $44,860 - $69,844 Entry
level BASE pay for an Uncertified Police Officer will be $44,860
annually. Pay is adjusted to $47,131 once Uncertified Police
Officers become POST Certified. We offer various supplemental pays
in addition to base pay including Associates (added 2.5% to base)
and Bachelors (added 5% to base) Degrees. There is a $2,000 bonus
if you are hired as a Certified Police Officer. This is only paid
upon satisfactory completion of a probationary period which is
typically one (1) year of consecutive full-time employment in the
Police Department. If the employee terminates from employment with
the City within three (3) years, this bonus must be paid back per
the contract signed upon employment. If applicable: Shift
Differentials of $0.27, $0.30 and $0.40/hour; HEAT Pay of
$35/month; Negotiator $35/month; Motorcycle, Bicycle, K-9, Mounted
Patrol of $65/month. Certified Police Officers who are EMT licensed
receive an additional $125/month and Paramedics receive an
additional $300/month. There is a special, one-time $2,500 bonus
for employees who speak Spanish and English fluently. To qualify
for this bonus, Police employees must have successfully completed
their probationary period which is typically one (1) year of
consecutive full-time employment and pass an independent review
administered by a panel of three (3) bilingual representatives of
the Hispanic community who are recognized by their peers as
competent judges of this proficiency. BENEFITS Employee Benefits

Safety Incentive Program to earn time off Medical Insurance: You
will have a choice of 3 medical plans that we offer through Cigna
and may choose between Employee Only, Employee + One Dependent, or
Family coverage. The City of Hendersonville pays, on average, the
following monthly premium costs for Medical Insurance: $512 per
month towards Employee Only insurance $720 per month towards
Employee + One Dependent $1,113 per month towards Employee + Family
Life Insurance: In addition to the City-paid Base Life insurance,
employees have various employee-paid Supplemental Life Insurance
options to choose from including Employee, Spouse, Child, and
Dependent Life. Guaranteed Issue Voluntary Supplemental Life
Insurance: Supplemental Life can be purchased by new employees up
to $150,000 without proof of good health and increased up to
$500,000 at future enrollments with Evidence of Insurability.
Supplemental Life may be purchased for Spouses up to $20,000
without proof of good health. Up to $250,000 may be purchased for
Spouse Life with approved Evidence of Insurability.
Uniforms/Equipment: Our City supplies and funds all necessary and
required uniforms and equipment. Take Home Vehicle: Within certain
limitations, the City does provide a take home vehicle. State
Income Tax: The State of Tennessee has no income tax on wages
earned. LATERAL TRANSFERS If you are hired by the Hendersonville
Police Department as a TN POST certified officer from another
agency, your starting annual BASE pay will be $48,225. You will
also be eligible to receive the $2,000 sign-on bonus upon
successful completion of a probationary period which is generally
one (1) year of continuous fulltime employment. Candidates who have
held or currently hold a POST Certification may be provided waivers
for the Written Exam and the Physical Agility testing requirements.
If you are currently TN POST Certified from another jurisdiction,
you will not have to go through the Academy again if hired. If you
were TN POST Certified but have been inactive for 5 years of less,
Hendersonville Police Department can get you re-instated if hired.
If you were TN POST Certified but have been inactive for 5-10
years, you must attend a 3-week Transition School if hired. If your
TN POST Certification has been inactive for 10+ years, you must
re-attend the Academy if hired. If you hold a current POST
Certification from another state, if hired, you must attend the
3-week Transition School. If you were POST Certified in another
state but have been inactive for less than 10 years, you must
attend the 3-week Transition School. Any POST Certification that
has been inactive for 10+ years will be required to attend the full
TN Academy if hired. Anyone who is hired, regardless of prior
experience, must complete the HPD in-house recruit training.
TESTING PROCESS and INFORMATION UPDATE: Testing will take place
once per quarter. Q1 -April 8th Q2 -June 24th Q3 -September 30th

provider (Stanard & Associates) offers candidate preparation
materials online (POST Study Guide and Practice Test). The cost for
the Practice Test is $15.00 and you can pay via credit card through
the website should you wish to take it. The exam provides you with
an opportunity to complete a full-length, timed practice version of
the POST exam. The content of the practice exam is 100% unique and
contains no overlap with any content of POST versions. The practice
version of the POST contains detailed feedback for any test item
answered incorrectly by the you, giving you a better understanding
of personal areas of strength, and opportunities for development.
