The unit provides medication management and support for situational depression and ideation, while focusing on maintaining the independence of most patients. With a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, the dedicated team comprises RNs, techs, sitters, a social worker, an intake clinician, and a recreational assistant, ensuring personalized care without accepting medically unstable patients. Telehealth psychiatric services are also available to enhance patient support. Essential Functions - Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. - Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner. - Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families. - Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation). - Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs). - Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education. - Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. - Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education. - Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and requirements Applicants should have a current State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure and possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree or RN Diploma in Nursing. Additional requirements include: - BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire - Handle with Care preferred. - 1-year experience in Geriatric Nursing, preferably in Behavioral Health is preferred.
