maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes.
Description: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a
Med Surg position. The unit has 34 beds with a patient ratio of
6:1. Tech support is available on both day and night shifts. Unit
secretarial support is available from 7 AM to 7 PM. Equipment
includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry
machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and
mobile communication technology. Documentation is completed using
the Meditech system. The schedule requires three 12-hour shifts per
week and two weekends (four shifts) in a four-week rotation.
Contract labor is the first to float during staffing adjustments.
The unit emphasizes providing attentive and compassionate care to
patients and their families. Bedside shift reports are expected,
and nurses are encouraged to make personal connections with
patients. This unit holds certifications including Comprehensive
Stroke and ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center. Candidates should
possess the ability to prioritize care effectively. Experience with
multitasking and various medical procedures is essential. Navy
scrubs are the required uniform for staff. Candidates should be
aware of the unit's supportive environment and experienced staff
