Must-Have: Labor and Delivery experience Intermediate fetal
monitoring experience Description: The unit has a capacity of 20
LDRPs and 5 OB assessment beds. Patient ratios are 1:3-4 couplets
and 1:1 for all active labors, VBACs, laboring magnesium sulfate,
and laboring insulin. For triage and early labor/cervical ripening,
the ratio is 1:1-2. Unit staffing includes a unit secretary Monday
through Friday and a Patient Care Technician Monday through Friday
from 0300-1130. An OB scrub tech is available 24/7. The unit is
equipped with GE fetal monitors and Novii systems. Documentation is
managed using CPN and Meditech. Scheduling is done using Timpani,
with preferences highly considered. There is a no floating policy.
Patient experience requirements include a bedside shift report
every shift, every time. Advanced skills needed include couplet
care and circulating in the operating room. Procedures performed on
the unit include vaginal deliveries, versions, cesarean sections,
epidurals, postpartum tubals, cerclage removal, and circumcisions.
Dress code requires shocking pink scrubs; pale pink or mauve are
not permitted. Unit-specific policies and guidelines are available
for review. The department received outstanding recognition as a
unit of distinction. The unit is an innovation pilot site focused
on solutions that improve nursing workload and enhance overall
