Job Description Certification Details - BLS - ACLS - PALS - Tennessee RN or multi-state compact license Job Details - Med/Surge Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. - Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. - Prepare and administer prescribed medications (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and record them. - Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to policy. - Educate patients on surgical procedures. - Record patients’ medical information and vital signs. - Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpret and record electronic displays. - Initiate corrective action when patient displays adverse symptoms. - Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients. - Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician. - Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, including post-treatment home care needs. - Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs. - Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient. - Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol. - Participate in discharge planning. - Utilize time management skills. - Record all care information concisely, accurately, completely, and timely in appropriate format and forms. - Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting. Job Requirements - Must have Tennessee RN or multi-state compact license, attached to resume. - Must have ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association, attached to submission. - Must have 2 years recent Med/Surg experience.
