unit Description: We are seeking labor and delivery nurses who
thrive in an open and transparent environment. The facility
delivers 3,500 babies annually in a state-of-the-art setup. The
clinical team will interview candidates before presentation for the
position. Labor and Delivery Nurses will float to the postpartum
unit. The unit consists of 14 beds, including 2 triage beds, 4
recovery bays, and 3 operating rooms. Nurses will work across
antepartum and labor and delivery. They will circulate in the OR
for C-sections and triage after completing education and testing
(QMP). The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in labor (specific
medications), 1:3 in antepartum, and varies in triage based on
acuity. In the operating room, the ratio is 1:1 as a circulator.
The facility manages around 300 deliveries per month, totaling
3,700 deliveries yearly. Laborists and anesthesia are available
24/7. Midwives are currently not available, but there are family
medicine residents who assist with triage patients. Postpartum has
a total of 27 beds with a 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio. Babies are
typically not roomed in with mothers at night. If a mother chooses
to keep her baby in the room, accommodations are made.
Documentation is performed in Cerner with the Fetelink Charting
System.
