Pay Information $1,831 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years minimum License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS certification Must-Have: Med/Surg experience, ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes. Description: This position is for a Med-Surg unit with a focus on post-operative care. The unit accommodates 34 beds with a patient ratio of 6:1. Support staff availability includes tech support on both day and night shifts, with a unit secretary present during daytime hours. Available equipment includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology. Documentation is managed using an electronic system. The scheduling requirement is for three 12-hour shifts per week, including two weekends (four shifts) within a four-week schedule. The floating policy states that contract labor is the first to float, with rotation utilized when several contract staff members are scheduled. Patient experience is a key focus, with an expectation of providing attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families. Bedside shift reporting and the ability to forge personal connections with patients, including them in their care plans, are essential. This unit is recognized for its certifications, including Comprehensive Stroke and ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center. Navy scrubs are required as part of the dress code.
