Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Labor and Delivery - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 07/14/2025 - Duration: 12 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery / Mother-Baby Unit (Night Shift) Location:1818 Albion St, Nashville, TN 37208-2918 Shift:Night Shift | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse with experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Mother-Baby care to join our dedicated night shift team. The ideal candidate must have at least one year of relevant nursing experience and demonstrate proficiency in managing deliveries from 32 weeks gestation and beyond. Both first-time travelers and local nurses are encouraged to apply, compensated equally. Key Responsibilities: - Provide direct nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns on the Mother-Baby unit, ensuring safety, comfort, and positive outcomes. - Monitor maternal and neonatal vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition. - Assist with deliveries and provide postpartum care for mothers and newborns. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams. - Care for a specialized patient population, including patients from the prison system. - Maintain accurate and timely documentation. - Provide education and emotional support to patients and families. - Participate in unit float assignments as needed. Qualifications: - Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby care. - Successful completion of at least two travel nursing assignments (if a first-time traveler, 2 years of experience required). - Current certifications required: - BLS (Basic Life Support) - ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – MAB accepted in lieu of CPI - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring - NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:1:2 during nights and weekends. - Experience working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment preferred. Staffing & Scheduling: - Patient Census: Approximately 6 patients per shift. - Number of Beds: 6 beds/rooms on the unit. - Staffing: 2–3 nurses per shift plus a scrub tech. - Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required. - Orientation: 24 hours provided. Additional Information: - Facility supports interdisciplinary care with multiple support services available. - Candidates must be comfortable working with diverse patient populations, including incarcerated patients. - Self-scheduling is utilized for shift management.
