Quality Engineer is responsible for engineering drawings, schematic
diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering
staff to determine quality and reliability standards.ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and initiates standards and
methods for inspection, testing and evaluation. This includes
advanced quality planning documents, forms and instructions for
recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability
dataPrepares and evaluates Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
documents for customers and suppliersAssists Advance Product
Quality Planning (APQP) team with quality issues on new product
launches including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)Manages
project timing plans with Gantt chartsAssures the Lot Traceability
program is effective and the program requirements are complied
withCommunicates with customers and suppliers (including corrective
action reports). Maintains file of related
correspondenceParticipates in defect/scrap reduction
activitiesAssists in the purchase of Quality Assurance supplies and
equipmentMaintains current product drawing files, standards and
related documentsEstablishes gage calibration procedures. Recalls
gages for calibration at a predetermined time period (includes
coordination with outside laboratories if required). Assures that
gages are calibrated, identified and gage records are updated and
placed on fileMaintains records of and controls disposition of
"Hold For Inspection" (discrepant) itemsCompiles and writes
training material and conducts training sessions on quality control
activitiesSelects products for tests at specified stages in
production process and tests products for variety of qualities such
as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical, or chemical
characteristics; Does not require advanced Co-ordinate Measuring
Machine (CMM) capability, however basic CMM may be requiredMonitors
the SPC program on a continuing basis for adherence to its
underlying principles and concepts; Performs process and machine
capability studies as neededRecords test data, applying statistical
quality control proceduresEvaluates data and writes reports to
validate or indicate deviations from existing standardsRecommends
modifications of existing quality or production standards to
achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capabilitySets
up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials,
parts or products to measure performance, life or material
characteristicsPrepares graphs or charts of data or enters data
into computer for analysisMaintains quality records in an orderly
mannerMaintains use and care of safety equipment and procedures in
the quality control laboratoryOther duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or
equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university or
two years of college in engineering/technical field 3 years of
experience in an injection molding shop with emphasis on process
problem solving Familiar with IATF 16949 Must be fluent in English
Ability to apply advanced mathematics as typically taught during a
four-year college or university course Ability to deal with
problems involving several concrete or abstract variables in
standard and non-standard situations Must be capable of working
with computers and applicable programs - Microsoft Office
applications and Minitab Ability to read and understand engineering
drawings Working knowledge of TS16949 standards For immediate
